Privacy Policy

Pour Picks ("we", "our", or "the app") is a whiskey and spirits recommendation, identification, and personal cellar utility. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

0. Who We Are

Pour Picks is operated by its developer, based in the United States. For all questions regarding this Privacy Policy, your personal data, or to exercise your privacy rights, contact us at support@pourpicks.app.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo as provided by the identity provider. Guest users are assigned an anonymous identifier with no personal information collected.

User-generated content. Bottle photos you scan, cellar entries, tasting notes, ratings, reviews, and quiz responses are stored in your account.

Device information. We collect basic device metadata (OS version, device model) for crash reporting and compatibility, plus a durable device identifier used to enforce free-scan quotas. We do not collect location data.

Purchase information. Subscription transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a purchase confirmation but never see your payment details.

Push notification token. If you turn on notifications, we collect a device push token (issued by Expo and Apple), your device platform, IANA timezone, and notification permission status. We use these solely to send the re-engagement messages described in Section 2, never for advertising. The token is tied to your account and is permanently deleted when you delete your account. Guest users are not issued a token.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide bottle identification, recommendations, and personalized results.
To sync your cellar, tasting reviews, and scan history across devices.
To improve our identification accuracy using anonymized scan data.
To manage your subscription and account.
To detect and prevent abuse (rate limits on AI features).
To send re-engagement push notifications you have opted into (your nightly pour recommendation, cellar and pour-streak reminders, and occasional product updates), at most one per day, and only while you keep them enabled.

3. Bottle Scan Images

Photos you take with the Pour Concierge feature are uploaded to our servers for identification and forwarded to Anthropic for processing. These images may be retained in anonymized form to improve our identification models. Images are associated with your user ID for correction and history purposes but are not shared publicly.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

Supabase, database and authentication hosting.
Anthropic, AI-powered bottle identification, receives scan images only.
RevenueCat, subscription management.
Apple, authentication and payment processing.
Google, authentication, when used.
Sentry, crash reporting.
PostHog, privacy-respecting product analytics.

Community ratings and reviews you submit are visible to other users. Your display name is shown alongside reviews; your email is never displayed.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for the following periods:

Account information (name, email, profile photo): for as long as your account is active, plus 30 days after account deletion to allow for accidental-deletion recovery, after which it is permanently purged.
Bottle scan images: up to 90 days for active accounts. Images may be retained beyond that period in fully anonymized, identifier-stripped form to monitor identification quality. Anthropic does not train on these images per its API terms.
Tasting reviews, cellar entries, journal data: for as long as your account is active; permanently deleted upon account deletion.
Crash reports and analytics events: up to 90 days in identified form, then aggregated.
Subscription transaction records: as required by tax and recordkeeping laws (typically 7 years).
Push notification token and send history: for as long as your account is active; permanently deleted upon account deletion.

You can accelerate deletion at any time by deleting your account in the Profile screen.

6. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in secured, access-controlled databases. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information.

7. Age Gate & Children's Privacy

Pour Picks is intended exclusively for adults of legal drinking age (21+ in the United States). The app presents an age confirmation on first launch and blocks users who decline. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that a user is under the legal drinking age, we will delete their account and associated data.

8. Your Privacy Rights

(a) Right to Know. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, the categories of sources from which we collected it, the purpose of collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared it.

(b) Right to Delete. You may request deletion of your personal information by deleting your account in-app (Profile tab → Delete Account) or by emailing support@pourpicks.app from your account email with the subject "Delete My Account." We will process within 7 days of receipt, subject to legal retention obligations.

(c) Right to Correct. You may correct inaccurate personal information by editing your profile or by emailing us.

(d) Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no opt-out to exercise.

(e) Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.

(f) GDPR Rights (EU/UK residents). In addition to the above, you have the right to data portability, to object to processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our lawful bases for processing are: (i) performance of contract for account sync and subscription management; (ii) legitimate interest for analytics, crash reporting, and fraud prevention; (iii) consent where required.

(g) How to Exercise Rights. Email support@pourpicks.app from your account email. We will respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA, extendable by 45 days if reasonably necessary). We may need to verify your identity before honoring a request.

(h) Authorized Agents. California residents may use an authorized agent to submit requests; the agent must provide written authorization signed by you.

9. Responsible Use Notice

Drink Responsibly

Pour Picks is a reference and tasting-journal utility. It does not sell, distribute, deliver, or facilitate the purchase of alcohol. The app is intended only for adults of legal drinking age. Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages is harmful to your health. Please drink responsibly and never drive after drinking.

Pour Picks and its developer expressly disclaim all liability for any illness, injury, or other harm related to alcohol consumption. By using this app you acknowledge that consumption of alcoholic beverages carries health risks and that you assume all responsibility for any consequences of your own consumption decisions.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
